The first week of a new school year is a critical time for our children.  It is very important for the kids to have  feel-good first days to make coming to school a thing they would look forward to. Classrooms are prepared, decorated and designed colorfully.  Equally important are the orientation and routine familiarization activities.  Children are also given opportunity to learn respect for the host country, Indonesia, by starting the week with a flag ceremony including the singing of the national anthem, reciting of the Pancasila and singing of the school song.  A lot of group games and free choice activities with classmates are also given to develop camaraderie and familiarity.  Kids also look forward to arts and craft activities where they can express their feelings and creativity.  Storytelling is also a staple part of the day followed by a wrap-up and going home routines.
